Disney Cruise Line: Merrytime Cruise aboard the Disney Fantasy

Our family took off on a quick four-day cruise on the Disney Fantasy over Thanksgiving break. While we have cruised aboard the Fantasy and other Disney ships before, this was our first Merrytime cruise. We had an exceptional experience. The Fantasy remains one of my favorite Disney ships, offering a perfect balance of activities for our daughters and ample spaces and amenities for adults. The Ship as well as both island were decorated so beautifully for Christmas and met all of my expectations of what a Merrytime Cruise would be.

We particularly enjoy the Quiet Cove adults-only section and the Serenity Spa, where we spent considerable time in the Rainforest Room—highly recommended for relaxation. This voyage featured verandah staterooms, which provided stunning views of the azure waters and clear blue skies, enhancing our overall experience.

The cruise itinerary included stops at both Castaway Cay and Lighthouse Point, Disney’s private islands, with excellent weather throughout. At Castaway Cay, we enjoyed riding the banana boat; however, a helpful tip is to wear goggles or sunglasses to protect your eyes from water splashes—especially if you are seated in the front row. Despite this minor inconvenience, it was a fun adventure that added to our memorable journey.

Pirate Night Experience

Pirate Night is a highly anticipated event for many guests aboard the cruise. It offers a lively atmosphere where everyone is encouraged to dress in pirate-themed costumes, creating a festive and immersive environment. The evening typically features themed activities, entertainment, and special dining options that enhance the overall experience.

Participants often enjoy engaging in costume contests and pirate-themed games, contributing to the sense of camaraderie and adventure. However, it is advisable to avoid any activities that involve walking the plank or similar daring feats, as safety remains a priority. Overall, Pirate Night provides an enjoyable and memorable highlight of the voyage for all ages. This year we choose to attend the event as Captain Hook, Mr. Smee, Wendy and Tinkerbell.

Mr. Smee’s headband, Tinkerbell’s headband and Wendy’s bow were perfection to complete the look.
